ONE · LOCAL-FIRST COMPUTE THESIS

Local first.
Burst by consent.

A proposed compute model for deciding what stays on a person’s device and what earns a temporary, user-directed cloud burst.

01 · DEVICEiPhone / Mac

Latency-sensitive and private work stays nearest to the person.

placement decision→
02 · POLICYConsent + fit

Escalate only when the task, resource need, and user instruction justify it.

user-directed→
03 · BURSTUser’s GCP project

A proposed bring-your-own-cloud execution path, then a deliberate teardown.

THE DESIGN INTENT

01

Data is not the business model

Prefer local execution; cloud is an earned escalation, not the default collection point.

02

The person owns the cloud boundary

The white paper describes bursts in the user’s GCP project rather than a pooled operator account.

03

Every rung is an explicit decision

The system is designed to explain why it stayed local or proposed a burst.

STATUS, PRECISELY

  • hu_ssh is a published specification and reference design.
  • This repository contains the public messaging and white paper—not the placement engine, provider, credential vault, burst API, job store, or macOS agent.
  • Apple Silicon and Google Cloud are technology targets in the design; neither relationship is represented as an endorsement or partnership here.
THE QUESTION BEHIND THE DIAGRAM

What is the smallest compute move that gets the person the result—without moving their life farther than necessary?
